The Christ Hospital Health Network, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Cincinnati, has donated 50 Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to 25 police departments in Hamilton County. This donation marks the completion of Phase II of Project Heart ReStart. The initiative aims to provide AEDs to law enforcement agencies, enhancing their ability to respond to cardiac emergencies.
Phase II successfully raised funds for 100 AEDs following the initial provision of these devices to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. The presentation event took place during a Rotary Club luncheon on December 12 at The Transept, featuring speakers such as Hamilton County Commissioners Denise Driehaus and Charmaine McGuffey, as well as Steve King, Past President of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati, and Tim Holloway, Police Chief of Evandale Police Department.
In its first phase, Project Heart ReStart raised $260,000 through various contributors including Zoll and Cintas. These funds were used to equip all deputy cruisers within the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office with AEDs.
Over three phases, nearly $800,000 has been raised by Project Heart ReStart. This funding has enabled the purchase of approximately 400 AEDs distributed across multiple counties including Hamilton and Boone. Having an AED available can increase survival rates from cardiac events from 10% to 40%.
The Christ Hospital Health Network operates an acute care hospital in Mt. Auburn and other facilities throughout the region. It is recognized for its healthcare services and has been named by U.S. News & World Report as the top hospital in Cincinnati.
