The Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati has adopted new artificial intelligence (AI) technology to improve the efficiency and accuracy of its cardiology diagnostics. The hospital is partnering with Merge, a cardiovascular imaging solutions provider, and Us2.ai, a company specializing in AI for echocardiography.

Through this collaboration, Us2.ai’s FDA-cleared algorithms will be integrated into Merge Cardio’s imaging systems. This will allow The Christ Hospital’s cardiology teams to use AI-generated analysis and reporting for echocardiograms. The system can automatically detect a range of parameters, including strain analysis and indicators of heart disease, following international guidelines.

Eugene Chung, MD, cardiologist at The Christ Hospital Health Network, stated: “Using this new A.I. tool helps to streamline the screening process by identifying candidates more efficiently and by doing so, frees up critical resources needed for a successful care. As a system that does thousands of echocardiograms a year, this new device will help lower the backlog of patients who need these heart screenings while making our entire cardiovascular team more efficient. With this system in place, we can get more face time with our patients to care for their needs in the Greater Cincinnati region.”

The hospital has been working with Merge Cardio for over 20 years and reports significant improvements in its cardiology department as patient volumes have increased. Matt Strange, Vice President & Chief Risk Officer at The Christ Hospital Health Network, said: “The Christ Hospital Health Network continues to do everything it takes to leverage the latest healthcare technologies to improve outcomes for our patients. This new collaboration empowers our physicians with tools and technology that enable them to continue to provide patients with the highest quality and most innovative care not just in Greater Cincinnati, but across the country.”

The integration is designed so that clinicians can access features like color-coded icons indicating measurement origins without additional systems or interfaces. This approach aims to simplify complex diagnostic steps and reduce manual measurements so providers can handle more cases daily while maintaining patient focus.

Ashish Sant, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Merge, commented: “Us2.ai’s capabilities align with Merge’s mission to empower clinicians with smart and intuitive solutions. Through this partnership, we’re proud to continue paving the way for more consistent, precise, and efficient diagnostic workflows in cardiology.”

Seth Koeppel, Head of Business Development at Us2.ai added: “Together with Merge, Us2.ai is focused on providing solutions clinicians can use to provide great patient care. This partnership reflects the growing healthcare trend of incorporating innovative technologies to drive measurable improvements in patient outcomes and physician experience.”

The Christ Hospital Health Network operates an acute care hospital in Mt. Auburn as well as another location in Liberty Township along with five outpatient centers and multiple medical offices throughout the region. It employs over 1,300 physicians and 7,200 staff members. In 2025 it was recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the top hospital in Cincinnati Region and included on Newsweek’s list of World’s Best Hospitals.
