The Kenton County School District (KCSD) has released its 2023-24 School Report Card, providing insights into various aspects such as test performance, teacher qualifications, and student safety. The report includes results from the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA), which evaluates students in grades 3 through 8, 10, and 11 on subjects like reading, mathematics, science, writing, and social studies.
The state accountability system uses color ratings to represent performance levels: Blue (Very High), Green (High), Yellow (Medium), Orange (Low), and Red (Very Low). For the current reporting period, KCSD achieved a Green rating across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Specific school ratings include two Blue schools—Taylor Mill SVA-Middle—and eleven Green schools including Dixie and Fort Wright. Five schools received a Yellow rating.
Key strengths highlighted in the report card include that 13 out of 18 schools performed at Very High or High levels overall. Additionally, all educational levels maintained a High overall level. Students scored Proficient or Distinguished above state averages in most content areas except for high school science. The district's performance on the ACT surpassed state averages in all areas.
Notably, KCSD reported a four-year graduation rate increase of 2.3%, reaching 97.9%, with postsecondary readiness improving by 15% over two years. As the sixth largest district in Kentucky, KCSD does not have any schools classified under Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI).
Areas identified for growth focus on increasing proficiency across all student groups and improving schools below the high or very high performance levels.
"We want to thank all of our stakeholders for their commitment to our students through a growth mindset and daily efforts," stated KCSD representatives. "We are very proud of our work and results and are committed to continuous growth of our instructional priorities to ensure an equitable learning environment for all."
