Ryland Heights Elementary teacher Emily Creech has been selected as a GoTeachKY Ambassador by the Kentucky Department of Education. The GoTeachKY initiative aims to provide all students in Kentucky with access to effective educators and to address the ongoing teacher shortage by recruiting and inspiring new teachers.
The selection process for ambassadors involved applicants from across Kentucky, representing a variety of grade levels, subject areas, and regions. The 2025–2026 cohort was chosen for their commitment to supporting the initiative and promoting the teaching profession.
Ambassadors are tasked with three main objectives: communicating with and inspiring high school and college students to consider teaching, engaging with current and potential teachers to highlight the benefits of the profession, and supporting GoTeachKY’s programs such as Educators Rising Kentucky and the Teaching and Learning career pathway.
During their term, ambassadors will take part in professional learning and outreach activities, represent GoTeachKY at events, and share their experiences on social media to encourage others to pursue teaching careers in Kentucky.
“GoTeachKY ambassadors are passionate educators who embody the heart of our profession,” said Veda Stewart, director of Kentucky Department of Education’s Division of Educator Recruitment and Development. “Their leadership helps inspire the next generation to see teaching not only as a career, but as a calling.”
To be eligible, ambassadors must be current teachers in Kentucky public schools with at least four years of experience as a teacher, principal, or certified school staff member. Their individual stories will be highlighted throughout the year to showcase the various pathways into teaching.
