Christ Hospital earns top patient safety grade from Leapfrog Group

Victor DiPilla Interim President, The Christ Hospital Physicians | The Christ Hospital Health Network

The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati has been awarded an "A" grade for patient safety by The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade Report for Fall 2024. This recognition is considered one of the most prestigious awards for patient safety, evaluating errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the preventive systems hospitals have in place. Nationwide, only 30% of hospitals achieved this rating for Fall 2024. In Ohio, The Christ Hospital is among 29 hospitals to receive an "A", and it is one of only 12 in the state to maintain this grade since Fall 2023.

Debbie Hayes, President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network, stated: “Our team members remain committed to doing everything it takes for the safety of all of our patients. Leapfrog’s “A” rating remains the gold standard for patients and their families looking for the highest safety measures in the healthcare industry. Our mission to improve the health of our community while creating exceptional outcomes all come from the quality practices at our healthcare network.”

Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, commented on this achievement: “Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for The Christ Hospital. It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to The Christ Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”

The Leapfrog Group's program focuses solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries. It is peer-reviewed and transparent with updates twice a year.
