The Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for advanced total hip and total knee replacement certification. This recognition is awarded to healthcare organizations that demonstrate continuous compliance with performance standards, symbolizing a commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Michael Palmer, MD, FAAOS, FAOA, Medical Director of the Musculoskeletal Service Line at The Christ Hospital Health Network, expressed pride in the achievement. "We are honored, once again, to receive the highest certification for total hip and total knee replacement care," he stated. Dr. Palmer highlighted the increasing need for joint replacements as the population ages and emphasized the hospital's dedication to improving community health through exceptional outcomes and patient experiences.

The certification process involved a rigorous onsite review by a Joint Commission reviewer who assessed compliance with related standards. These standards are developed with input from healthcare experts, providers, measurement experts, and patients. The review included onsite observations and interviews.

In addition to this recent certification, The Christ Hospital holds Gold Seal of Approval certificates in several other areas: advanced palliative care, inpatient diabetes care, advanced heart failure, primary stroke center, and ventricular assist device.

The Christ Hospital Health Network comprises an acute care hospital in Mt. Auburn, a remote location in Liberty Township, eight ambulatory outpatient centers, and numerous medical offices throughout the region. With over 1,300 physicians and 7,200 team members committed to improving community health affordably and effectively for 135 years. U.S. News & World Report recognized it as the #1 hospital in the Cincinnati Region while Newsweek included it on its World’s Best Hospitals list in 2025.
