The Lindner Family and American Financial Group, Inc. have donated $10 million to support the expansion and renovation of The Carl and Edyth Lindner Center for Research and Education at The Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati. This contribution aims to enhance the hospital's capacity for cardiovascular research, accelerate innovation, and strengthen Cincinnati's role as a hub for scientific discovery.
Debbie Hayes, President & CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network, described the donation as "a game-changing investment in the future of cardiovascular research." She emphasized that this generosity would provide the necessary facilities and infrastructure to drive innovation and bring groundbreaking treatments to the community more rapidly.
The Lindner Research Center has been a leader in community-based cardiovascular research, enrolling over 3,000 patients in clinical trials last year alone. It has pioneered numerous "first-in-the-world" treatments impacting heart failure, structural heart disease, surgical innovations, and women's cardiovascular health.
S. Craig Lindner and Carl H. Lindner III, Co-CEOs of American Financial Group, expressed their belief in "the power of research to improve lives" and their pride in supporting The Lindner Research Center's efforts.
Dean Kereiakes, MD, Chairman of the Heart & Vascular Institute at The Christ Hospital Health Network, noted that the center is ranked among the top 3% of all clinical cardiovascular research centers in the U.S., highlighting how this gift will further expand its capabilities.
Tim Henry, MD, Medical Director at The Lindner Family Distinguished Chair for Clinical Research stated that "this generous gift will further strengthen the Lindner Research Center's international reputation."
The renovation project will include new laboratories, enhanced exam rooms, advanced data storage infrastructure, and flexible spaces for researchers. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Heart & Vascular Institute to be a national leader in research and innovation.
