The Christ Hospital Health Network has received a $15 million donation from the Farmer Family Foundation to advance its Heart & Vascular Institute. This contribution is the largest philanthropic investment in the network’s history and will be used to enhance cardiac care and innovation.

The funds will support the creation of a new cardiac operating suite equipped with a broadcast center for real-time surgical education accessible to physicians locally and globally. The donation will also help acquire advanced imaging technologies, such as MRI, CT, and PET scanners, aiming to improve diagnostic speed and accuracy for patients.

“We are deeply grateful to the Farmer Family Foundation for believing in our mission and investing in the important work we are undertaking to change healthcare,” said Debbie Hayes, President & CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network. “Their continued generosity continues to leave an indelible mark on our community. One that is felt not just today, but one that will be felt for generations to come.”

This investment aligns with The Christ Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute’s strategy to become a leading destination for cardiovascular care in Cincinnati. The support from the Farmer Family Foundation is expected to allow local patients access to advanced heart treatments without leaving the area.

“This extraordinary act of generosity from the Farmer Family Foundation is yet another example of their remarkable vision and longstanding commitment to the Greater Cincinnati community,” said Dean Kereiakes, MD, Chairman of the Heart & Vascular Institute at The Christ Hospital Health Network. “The Farmer Family gift positions The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute to be a national leader in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of heart disease, right here in Cincinnati.”

The donation is also intended to help attract top medical professionals—including physicians, nurses, and support staff—to ensure ongoing high-quality care in the region.

"This meaningful gift represents our commitment to ensuring Cincinnatians have expanded access to state-of-the-art technology and world-class physicians," said George Joseph, Trustee of the Farmer Family Foundation. "We are proud to partner with The Christ Hospital Health Network in their mission to provide cutting-edge cardiovascular care and improve patient outcomes."

The Christ Hospital Health Network operates an acute care hospital in Mt. Auburn, another hospital location in Liberty Township, eight outpatient centers, and numerous medical offices throughout Greater Cincinnati. It employs over 1,300 physicians and 7,200 staff members. In 2025, it was named the top hospital in Cincinnati by U.S. News & World Report and included on Newsweek’s list of World’s Best Hospitals.

The Farmer Family Foundation focuses its philanthropy on impactful programs within Greater Cincinnati—especially those supporting education for at-risk youth—and selectively supports health care research outside the region.
