Megan Rich, MD, who serves as Program Director of The Christ Hospital/University of Cincinnati Family Medicine Residency Program, has been named the 2025 Family Medicine Educator of the Year by the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP). The award recognizes educators in family medicine who show dedication to medical education, serve as role models, and engage with their academic communities.
Dr. Rich leads both curriculum development and mentorship for the residency program. She also oversees UC's Longitudinal Primary Care Clerkship, which pairs more than 200 medical students with primary care physicians each year. This program is considered unique on a national level. Dr. Rich’s work includes redesigning curricula and developing faculty initiatives that have helped strengthen residency training during challenging periods such as the COVID pandemic.
“It is a humbling experience to be named as the family medicine educator of the year by The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians,” said Dr. Rich. “I hope that graduates of the program will look back and know how well they were supported during these formative years and that they remember how much I cared for them. I want to thank my colleagues at The Christ Hospital and UC for being so supportive and great members of the medical community to work with.”
Dr. Rich completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University before earning her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She finished her residency in family medicine at The Christ Hospital/University of Cincinnati program, where she was chief resident.
She holds board certification from the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Family Physicians, Ohio Academy of Family Physicians, Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, and Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
The OAFP recognized Dr. Rich’s contributions alongside The Christ Hospital Health Network’s ongoing commitment to healthcare in Cincinnati. The hospital network operates an acute care hospital in Mt. Auburn, a remote location in Liberty Township, eight outpatient centers, and many regional offices. It employs over 1,300 physicians and more than 7,200 staff members across its facilities. In 2025, U.S. News & World Report ranked it as the top hospital in Cincinnati while Newsweek included it on its list of World’s Best Hospitals.
The OAFP represents over 4,700 members statewide including practicing physicians, residents, and students focused on comprehensive care for all ages.
