The Kenton County JROTC has received the Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD) designation, which is the highest recognition given by the U.S. Army Cadet Command. This award is granted to JROTC units that score 95% or higher on the Army’s JROTC Program Accreditation (JPA), indicating a high level of performance in all areas of the program.
With this achievement, Kenton County JROTC cadets are now permitted to wear the Gold Star of Excellence on their uniforms. The unit also gains the ability to nominate qualified cadets directly to U.S. Service Academies.
According to a statement from the district, “This distinction reflects the tireless efforts of our Cadets, instructors, and school leadership.”
The program operates at Scott High School and includes students from Scott, Dixie Heights, and Simon Kenton high schools.
