Beechgrove Elementary and Taylor Mill Elementary have received a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant from the United States Department of Agriculture. The program is managed by the USDA, in partnership with the Division of School and Community Nutrition at the Kentucky Department of Education, and coordinated locally by the Kenton County School District Student Nutrition Department.
Through this grant, all students at both schools will receive fresh fruit or vegetable snacks. The FFVP aims to create healthier school environments by offering healthier food options, expanding the variety of fruits and vegetables that children experience, increasing their consumption of these foods, and making a positive impact on their diets for both present and future health.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve nutrition in schools across the district.
"This program helps us introduce students to new fruits and vegetables they may not otherwise try," said a representative from the Kenton County School District Student Nutrition Department. "We are committed to supporting healthy eating habits among our students."
