The Christ Hospital Health Network highlights importance of mammograms during Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Deborah Hayes President & CEO | The Christ Hospital Health Network

The Christ Hospital Health Network is encouraging women to schedule annual mammograms during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of early detection for better patient outcomes. The American Cancer Society recommends that women aged 40 to 44 have the option to begin yearly mammogram screenings, while those between 45 and 54 should receive them annually.

The hospital network provides advanced diagnostic options for breast cancer. These include ultrasound-guided biopsies for suspicious lumps or masses detected by ultrasound, stereotactic-guided biopsies when micro calcifications are seen on a mammogram, breast MRIs for detailed imaging without X-ray radiation, and breast ultrasounds to differentiate between cancerous masses and benign cysts.

Patients diagnosed with breast cancer at The Christ Hospital Health Network have access to various treatment options such as medications, radiation therapy, and surgery. The network is also part of the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Care Collaborative. This membership allows its medical and radiation oncology providers to benefit from supportive services, second opinions, educational resources on new cancer care methods, and collaborative training programs with Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center specialists.
